A discourse visualisation system
Te.Ma’s political debate summaries
Te.Ma is a platform for information, reflection and debate. Channels allow users to browse and discuss changing topics. Whenever a channel such as Russia’s war on Ukraine, Gender-inclusive language or AI and sustainability is closed, the platform’s authors summarise the debate. The goal of this project was to create a design system and framework that could be used to present these discourse summaries. We created an article-like template consisting of networks, multiple text types, (non-overlapping) footnotes, a reading progress indicator, tags and inter-page navigation. Two challenges were to create a system that could be applied to all future summaries and to work across different screen sizes.
